Reaching for Wholeness...

Recovery is a highly personal matter. What it looks like will vary according to the individual. For some people, recovery means getting a job, or restoring a shattered sense of self-identity. Others define recovery as finding the best medication to control their symptoms. Still other people define recovery as being med and symptom free. Some define recovery as learning to successfully work with their symptoms to the degree that they no longer feel overwhelmed by the content; they may even come to regard their experience (past or ongoing) as a gift, as is common in the shamanic and other spiritual traditions.

What does "recovery" from a form of spiritual emergency look like to you? This is your place to share the story of your experience, the story of your recovery (even if it's not yet complete), and what you found most helpful (or unhelpful) in finding that ground. Feel free to submit it to me and I'll post it on your behalf. I don't have time to moderate comments but you are welcome to include a link back to your blog or webpage, or an e-mail address where others can contact you. Note: Copyright is retained by the author of each story.

"It's miraculous how people come back," he says. "If you talk to someone who is doing better, he or she will tell you that someone--a friend, a family member, a pastor, a therapist--reached out with warmth and gentleness and kindness."

Note: This blog is brand new and still needs some polishing. I'll be taking care of that over the next several days. Like my other blog this post will remain at the "top" of the page with new entries placed below it. Author entries will be arranged in a "Table of Contents" on the right. Comments will not be enabled because I don't have time to wade through them all to remove the spam. However, authors are welcome to provide links back to their own blogs or an e-mail address where others can contact them.
